Join South Philly Autonomous Cinema and Philly Socialists for another night of Palestinian film, fundraising, and solidarity! We will be screening Elia Suleiman’s dark comedy Divine Intervention (2002). A couple meets clandestinely at a military roadblock. Neighbors bicker as police come and go. One woman’s stare tumbles a checkpoint tower. Moving between Nazareth, Ramallah, and the heavily policed roads in between, Divine Intervention draws a hysterical and devastating sketch of Palestinian life under occupation.
All proceeds from this screening will go to the mutual aid project Gaza Champions, which provides direct funds for Palestinians seeking to flee Gaza or (eventually) rebuild their lives in Palestine.
This event is all ages. Masks are requested to be worn except when eating or drinking and will be supplied at the door.
